The Committee of Management of version 1.0 is pleased to announce the appointment of Cathy Murdoch as General Manager, commencing 29th October 2012.
version 1.0 President, Richard Drysdale said, “We are delighted that Cathy has joined version 1.0 in the restructured role of General Manager. Cathy has an impressive track record of achievements in senior arts management within the performing arts sector and will lead the ensemble of artists and staff through the company’s next stage of development and growth”.
Cathy has over 20 years’ experience working in the performing sector and brings a wealth of strategic management, marketing and development expertise to the company. She has held a leadership position within the Australian dance sector as Director of the Australian Dance Council – Ausdance - NSW for over eight years.
As a leader of high profile national events and strategic initiatives, Cathy has been the Executive Director of the Australian Dance Awards, overseeing sold out performances at the Sydney Opera House in 2004-6; Festival Director of the 2012 Australian Youth Dance Festival; Director of the inaugural NSW Aboriginal Dance Forum and was Acting Chair of Shaun Parker & Company in its founding year. Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts from QUT and is currently completing her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the Australian Catholic University.
Renowned as Australia’s masters of political-based verbatim theatre, version 1.0 consistently delivers strikingly original, innovative political performance.

Artistic program highlights for 2013 include:
· The Major Minor Party: The Canberra Theatre Centre will host the world premiere of this new work, which explores the rise of the ACT-based Australian Sex Party
· The Table of Knowledge: This acclaimed co-production between version 1.0 and Merrigong Theatre Company will tour to 15 regional venues as part of Performing Lines’ Road Work touring program.
version 1.0 maintains a core ensemble of six artists, each dedicated to the innovative political performance practice that forms the heart of version 1.0’s mission. The company of artists comprises Sean Bacon, Irving Gregory, Jane Phegan, Paul Prestipino, Yana Taylor and Kym Vercoe, who will continue to make devised performance through collaboration, investigating and enacting democracy.
The company acknowledges the many outstanding achievements of outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Dr David Williams.
